I give free rein to impulses with movement and gestures that leave marks. These impulses rise in moments of overwhelm and turmoil. I imagine these are auxiliary inner spaces for use when it gets tight inside. As I scribble to release the excess energy, marks accumulate on the painting surface. Through the juxtaposition and superimposition of calligraphic and choreographic forms images begin to emerge. Sometimes the initial markings reveal a place or an architectural, animalistic or the human figure. The surface gains depth through overlay of gesture, line and shape,
